Sustainability
One of Bristol's greenest developments
Why retrofit is the greenest way forward?
Retrofit is the process of upgrading an existing building to make it better for people, places and the planet. Canons Wharf, first built in the 1980s, will be retrofitted to offer the boldest quality with the lightest carbon. Our Retrofits strategy for Canons Wharf means we offer companies the greenest option for their next office. Here’s how:
Canons Wharf is located in the heart of Bristol meaning it’s easy to walk to and explore nearby locations.
Preventing Harmful Demolition
Most new builds require demolition which is harmful
Reducing the overall Embodied Carbon
By preventing demolition and rebuild, we cut overall carbon
Limiting Waste going into Landfills
By reusing an existing building, we send far less waste to landfill
Minimising Raw Material Consumption
Retrofit means we overall use less water and materials
Preserving Heritage and Cultural Identity
Another building with a unique story is saved from demolition
Operating Sustainably and Efficiently
Retrofit upgrades the building to operate sustainably
Architects’ Journal’s Retrofirst Campaign is a bold voice in the movement towards retrofitting over rebuilding.

Transitioning to 100% Electric
We will transition the building to operate of 100% electricity that is renewably generated, reducing the building's carbon output.
Utilising existing Dock Water System
A pioneering example of sustainable innovation for its time, we will continue to utilise this technology to continue reducing our carbon.
All Air System
The All Air System we will be implementing in the building will create a comfortable environment in a highly efficient manner.
Fabric Improvements Reducing Heat Loss
Our work will not only add systems to the building but improve the overall fabric to drastically cut the overall heat loss of Canons Wharf.
Upgrading Lighting to LED
Our Offices, Restaurants and Events Spaces will be illuminated by highly-efficient LED fixtures that offer adaptability and sustainability.
Increased Biophilia and Green Landscaping
We will design outdoor green spaces with natural species to support biodiversity, wellbeing and natural respite throughout the working day.
