Canons Marsh has always been a place of transformation. From medieval marshland to industrial docklands, and now a thriving cultural quarter, the area is steeped in Bristol’s history. The next chapter arrives with Canons Wharf—a new, mixed-use development reimagining this iconic waterfront location.
From Industry to Innovation
Canons Marsh once bustled with shipyards, warehouses and gasworks, but by the 1970s, industry had declined and the docks closed. Over the past few decades, regeneration has gradually reshaped the area—starting with Watershed in the 1980s, followed by Millennium Square, cultural institutions, and new public spaces. Today, it’s a creative and cultural hub in the heart of the city.
